Huguette Tolinga

saturday 10 july • 14:30 - 16:00
Concert & Talk • Médiathèque Olympe de Gouges
Congolese percussionist Huguette Tolinga discovered the drums at the age of seven and has since forged a singular path, from Kinshasa to Strasbourg, where she recently settled. A self-taught musician, she began her career in contemporary dance before continuing her journey with Quartier Latin (led by Koffi Olomide) and other projects, later founding her own group, Huguembo, in 2010.
She performs and teaches primarily using the Tam-Tam Ngoma, a drum made in Kinshasa, where she has also initiated several women-led musical projects.
She will present her journey and engage in a discussion with the audience following the concert.
